Arnas Brotzu promotes blood donation through a project designed to build donor loyalty. It was initiated by the Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine unit, led by director Giulia Fadda.
The initiative was created with a dual objective: to increase and stabilize the number of donors, and to build an ongoing relationship based on trust and mutual care . To this end, regular donors—those who have made at least one donation in the last year—are offered free access to prevention and screening programs.
This trial translates into targeted screenings for cardiovascular prevention, prevention of allergic respiratory diseases, assessment of dyslipidemia (also linked to lifestyle), assessment of glycemic status and prevention of type 2 diabetes, screening for thyroid diseases and celiac disease, screening for osteoporosis, and screening for microcythemia.
The programs will be piloted for six months and adjusted based on the results achieved. "Donating blood means taking concrete care of others," explains Director Giulia Fadda. "With this project, we want to strengthen the bond with our donors, offering them not only a safe and controlled process, but also an opportunity for prevention. It's a way to recognize the value of their choice and support them, building a more health-conscious community together."
