His name and surname are known, and his date of birth. But these data are not sufficient to find any descendants of the military, most likely Sardinian, a veteran of Russia during the Second World War.

Serafino Piludu was born in 1917, son of Salvatore and Tomasa Stori. This is what we can now read on the plate that Alexander, a former policeman, found in an area where Italian soldiers fought in the years 1942-1943. The group of Alpine troops from Rivignano Teor contacted the editorial team of UnioneSarda.it to launch an appeal and find the descendants of man.

"For years we have been collaborating with an association in Taranto called 'Armir, the return from oblivion' - explains Roberto Venturini -, and through the collaboration of Alexander we receive the relics that he finds and return them to the families". Among these is Private Piludu's nameplate. “It is the one that was used for the recognition of the dead, it is in double foil. One was left on the body, the other was taken by officers or comrades and handed over to the military district for filing as 'fallen' ". However, Serafino's plate is very worn, “it is not possible to read the district, that is the place from which he started, the municipality of his birth”, so up to now it has not been possible to return it to his relatives.

“We have done various searches, based on the distribution of surnames in Italy, and there are about 280 families with that surname, the greatest concentration is in Sardinia. I then wrote to the municipalities but so far we have not received any feedback ".

“It would be nice to be able to find the relatives of the military, we hope to have some help from the Sardinians”, concludes Venturini.
