Former Cagliari player Fabio Macellari (who also wore the shirts of Inter, Bologna and Lecce) was sentenced to eight months in prison and a fine of 1,800 euros for the crime of drug dealing.

The sentence was issued by the Court of Piacenza. The investigation into the fifty-one-year-old former footballer began in 2019 and was conducted by the Carabinieri of Bobbio.

The defendant did not deny personal cocaine use but always denied the charge of being a drug dealer. The judge found him responsible for one drug dealing incident but acquitted him of two other charges because "the fact did not exist."

After the sentence was read, the former full-back was taken back to prison, where he is already serving a five-year sentence, set by the Cagliari court, for mistreatment of his ex-partner and extortion of his ex-partner's mother.
