This evening, in Fonni, everyone was there: committees for the defense of healthcare, associations of cancer patients, families, representatives of institutions, trade associations and professional associations. And the churchyard of the Basilica of the Martyrs proved to be far too small to contain the approximately 2000 people who came from everywhere.

Not a simple sit-in, but a real battle cry in defense of the right to health . Showing solidarity with the cancer patient Gianmichele Angheleddu , his wife Lina Cadau and the social workers Anna Gregu and Rosanna Verachi. As well as all patients who face the difficulties of treatment paths. And, as a sign of solidarity, the shutters of local businesses have also decided to remain closed.

"When evil knocks on a family's door, it doesn't warn them - explained the mayor Daniela Falconi - if it hadn't been for Gianmichele, his wife Lina and our social workers, this case would not have emerged." And again: «These mobilizations teach us that something is wrong. We are not asking for heads and resignations, but for concrete solutions for everyone."

Lina Cadau followed: «We have suffered an unprecedented media attack. We were accused by saying that the ASL document was false. Councilor Doria and those in charge take off their armor and find immediate solutions for all Sardinian patients." The SOS Barbagia Mandrolisai Committee, with Bachis Cadau , reiterated: «We are not here to act as a sounding board for any party. We work for only one party and that is public health, fair and universal for all." And then: «There was a little justifiable opposition from the councilor to the concern of the fragile citizen. Which we don't share. We ask that there be steps forward, with the cohesion of all political forces." Social worker Rosanna Verachi : «We did our duty by collecting the concerns of Gian Michele and his family. As we do with everyone every day. We would have expected a discussion table and not closed doors." Thus Marilena Pintore , of Vivere a Colori: «We are here to continue our battle by bringing the voice of the sick. We fight for free and efficient public healthcare in our territories. Prevention is lacking in central Sardinia. It is essential that screening action resumes." Don Michele Cadau , Fonnese and parish priest in Gavoi: «Solidarity has been lacking in this matter. Politicians cannot handle people's suffering for their power. This square is the symbol of a people who meet."

Angheleddu's speech was highly applauded: «I just expressed something that wasn't right. I expected to be listened to instead of being accused of a false document. I renew the invitation to the councilor to come and speak. In public, not in private."

Also present from Cagliari was the lawyer Francesco Caput, who offered to provide free legal assistance to Angheleddu. The evening was concluded by speeches from the committees from Ogliastra, Marghine and administrators.
