The phase of public consultations has begun on the project of Ep Produzione which intends to create the first floating photovoltaic system, to be installed in front of the industrial port of Porto Torres .
The planned offshore photovoltaic plant will be installed outside the breakwater of the industrial port of Porto Torres, will have an extension of about 30 hectares of solar panels , entirely at sea, and will be connected via cable duct to the substation (FS Olio at 150 kV), located in Cabu Aspru, in the municipality of Sassari, within the perimeter of the thermoelectric plant managed by Fiume Santo SpA
The proposing company belongs to the Czech energy group Eph which manages the coal-fired power station of Fiume Santo , concessionaire of the outer dam and a quay for the mooring of coal ships to supply the plant. The documentation for the observations in the context of the environmental impact assessment procedure had been filed with the Ministry of the Environment and is currently awaiting the requested opinions.
The floating photovoltaic plant can be coupled to a battery-type storage system , with an accumulation capacity of up to 200 megawatt/h, to be built inside the Fiume Santo thermoelectric plant.
