Gigantic fire in Sa Serra: smoke in the sky of Nuoro

The fire front which has been keeping the firefighting apparatus busy for over three hours in the area between Nuoro and Orune, in the Sa Serra area, is growing.

Three Canadair planes, three helicopters taken off from the bases of Farcana, Anela and San Cosimo, and two Super Puma helicopters are operating on site.

Several forestry and civil protection teams on the ground are also fighting the flames. According to initial information, this is the re-ignition of a fire that broke out yesterday afternoon on a difficult day in the fight against the fire which saw two foresters fall ill from the smoke and the extreme heat.

The large fire broke out this morning after yesterday afternoon's fires, with the tongues of fire regaining strength from the already devastated area. The large column of smoke is now reaching the sky above the city of Nuoro.
