It hasn't been long since there was queuing at vaccination centers, and now most of it is done. Just on the day when the extraordinary commissioner for the Covid-19 emergency, General Francesco Figliuolo, announces that the 80% of the Italian population has crossed the line that has completed the vaccination cycle (approximately 86 million 250 thousand doses administered, including first and second), the Sardinia Health Protection Agency opens the hubs to all those who need to receive the first dose without requiring a reservation.
The formula used up to now only during the "open days" has now become the rule, it is not linked to age groups and is valid throughout the region. Furthermore, the third doses are also launched today in the hubs, which however are not for everyone - at least, not yet - and will follow a specific program. Immediately a clarification: those waiting to receive the "booster" dose (as the third is called) must follow priority rules that are very reminiscent of those that were used for the first administration of the vaccine: in this case, as for the second dose, continue to make the appointment for administration in the hubs.
First "free" dose
Therefore, from today in the hubs of the island it is no longer necessary to book to receive the first dose (which has already been administered to a large part of the population), whatever the age. The total doses (between first and second) on the island exceeded the ceiling of 2 million 400 thousand injections). For the second, however, those who have seen the first inoculate already have an appointment for the next one and these deadlines will continue to be respected.
The new calls
Still today, it was said, green light in Sardinia for the third administration of the vaccine for frail patients of all ages and for those who carry out a health profession and are at least sixty years old, but six months must have passed from the date on which the cycle ended. primary vaccination. They may be given either one of the two mRna vaccines, ie those produced by Moderna (Spikevax) and Pfizer (Comirnaty).
