The municipal council of Muravera has approved the state of natural disaster for the violent fires which hit the municipal area on 5 and 6 August, in particular Feraxi and the tourist resort of Costa Rei .

The toll is heavy: hundreds of hectares of land devoured by flames , farms devastated, citrus groves reduced to ashes , thousands of people, in many cases tourists, terrified by the fury of the fire.
"Once the last reclamation operations have been completed, the quantification of the damage will start in all the areas affected by these two hellish days", explained the mayor, Salvatore Piu .
The municipal administration was constantly present in the area during those crucial days. "We thank all the Police Forces, the Forestry Corps, the Fire Brigade, the Forestas Agency, the Civil Protection associations and all those including many voluntary citizens who operated in these two days despite the prohibitive weather conditions", he said. said the Councilor for the Environment, Fabio Piras .

Yesterday the regional councilor for the environment, Marco Porcu , had visited the areas affected by the flames . The exponent of the Sardinian regional executive, accompanied by the municipal administrators of Muravera, went to Feraxi, where he visited two farms seriously damaged by the flames and to Costa Rei.

«The councilor has assured us the maximum support of the Region for this emergency - said the mayor, Salvatore Piu - We are also confidently awaiting the outcome of the investigations that are currently involving the Forestry Corps and the police. Those responsible for this disaster must be brought to justice."
