More severe sanctions - varying between 5,000 and 50 thousand euros - for those who transgress the prohibitions and the advance to May 15 of the daily bulletin defining the level of alert in the twenty-five zones into which the territory has been divided.

These are the most important innovations contained in the 2022 update of the regional fire prevention regulations just approved by the Council on the proposal of the Environment Councilor, Gianni Lampis.

"The painful images of the fires that ravaged the island during last summer are still imprinted in the minds of the Sardinians - recalled the president of the Region Christian Solinas - therefore, in addition to the necessary prescriptions for the 2022 fire prevention campaign, it is also necessary to invite a greater sense of responsibility and respect for the environment, trusting in the love for the island, lived intensely not only by the Sardinians but also by the many tourists who visit it every year ".

Councilor Lampis underlined how "the timely approval of the prescriptions allows an immediate application and the launch of a widespread information, awareness and education campaign aimed at the population to encourage fire prevention activities and the development of an environmental awareness, also through the disclosure of the prescriptions to local authorities, schools, trade associations, tourist accommodation facilities, ports, airports ".
