The alleged perpetrators of the fire that broke out on the afternoon of August 31 in Calasetta , in the Torre Sotto area, have been identified.

Investigations carried out by members of the Forestry Corps and the Carabinieri of the local station established that the fire was caused by the launch of a flare . Videos posted online documented the development of the flames, which started when a flare fell to the ground.

Initial investigations have also identified the alleged perpetrators , although investigations are still ongoing.

The fire, which broke out on August 31st on a hill, incinerated approximately 300 square meters of Mediterranean scrub, but could have had far more serious consequences. Only thanks to the immediate intervention of the Forestry Corps, along with the firefighters and the civil protection associations Assosulcis Sant'Antioco and Terramare Calasetta, were major damage to homes and people averted.
