Fire alert in the south of the island: flames in Serramanna and Sarroch, homes evacuated

The Forestry Corps is responding with the support of two Canadair aircraft and three helicopters from the regional fleet to two fires in southwest Sardinia . The flames, driven by gusts of sirocco wind, are advancing, and the Civil Protection operations center has dispatched aircraft.

The most critical situation is in the countryside of Serramanna , where the mayor decided to evacuate three homes after the fire approached some farmhouses in the Su Fraigu area, not far from a country church.

Canadair aircraft and two helicopters from the operational bases of Villasalto and Fenosu are operating on site. The fire is affecting an area of reeds and crops.

The other helicopter from the Forestry Corps' operational base in Pula is responding to a fire in Sarroch, in the Sa Perda Scritta area . The flames, which have devoured Mediterranean scrub and uncultivated land, have been practically contained.
