«Thanks for everything, Sardinia. We'll be back, forever: we loved life there." A story with a happy interlude and an end yet to be written that experienced by Daniel and Varonika Suttó and their four-month-old son Filip (and now weighing four kilos). At the end of July the couple had arrived from Slovakia for their honeymoon. She was pregnant, twenty-sixth week. The two young men thought they could enjoy a period of sun and relaxation during the Sardinian summer. Instead, the baby showed great haste to come to light, too early, while they were in Tortolì.
Veronika had been admitted to the Polyclinic and Daniel had launched an appeal on social media: he had asked for help finding accommodation, a car to be able to move. She already knew that the vacation would turn into a long stay, to help the premature baby who would arrive shortly. The wave of solidarity had been impressive . And the Slovakian couple had been inundated with offers of support.
Everything went fine. The baby was born at 9.51 pm on 2 August. Since then, mum and dad, who have hit the headlines, have shuttled back and forth to the hospital starting from a house that has been made available in Monserrato . While the baby was in intensive care, in an incubator. Four months, and he became healthy and strong.
«On 7 December we returned home, to Slovakia», Daniel now recounts, «We have overcome difficult moments, thanks to all the doctors and nurses. Their approach was perfect. We are incredibly happy that Filip chose Sardinia» , continues his father, «he showed us how beautiful life is on the island» . For the couple «it is difficult to leave this beautiful land. We met so many wonderful people with whom we made unique friendships.
So much in love with Sardinia, Daniel and Veronika, that he now assures: «We are thinking of moving forever, in a year at the most. Here, during the day, there are three degrees. Over there, instead..."
