The journey of the three Holy Martyrs Turritani begins on Friday 3 May , a religious rite particularly felt by the community of Porto Torres .

As per centenary tradition, at the end of the Holy Mass which will take place at 6pm in the basilica of San Gavino, the usual procession of faithful will take place with the seventeenth-century simulacra , depicting the soldier Gavino, the presbyter Proto and the deacon Gianuario, carried on their shoulders towards the small church of San Gavino a Mare (Balai Vicino), the place where, according to tradition, the first burial of the Turritan patron saints took place.

The procession will start from the thousand-year-old church and will cross Largo Sabelli, Piazza Marconi-via Bixio, via Sassari, via Balai, arriving at the small church of Balai nearby, where the wooden statues will be placed. Here, in the small place of worship, they will remain until the day of Pentecost, Sunday 19 May, and for about two weeks the little church in front of the bay of Balai will become the destination of a daily pilgrimage, from the first light of dawn to sunset, until the afternoon on the eve of Festha Manna, the popular festival most attended by the Turritans and all the populations of the surrounding area.
