The political debate over the future of Fenosu Airport is heating up. Following the statements of the Municipality, Province, and unions, Alessandro Solinas, regional councilor for the Five Star Movement , also weighs in, reviving the proposal to house the ITA Airways flight school and attacking the airport's current ownership.

"This is an opportunity not to be missed for Sardinia," he stated. "The Regional Council has already officially expressed its interest to ITA Airways to further explore the project and initiate the necessary discussions to ensure the school finds a place on the island."

But, the chairman of the Budget Committee warns, the revitalization is facing a situation that has been stalled for years. "Every prospect of revitalization has come up against the control exercised by a private entity over a state-owned property granted under concession by the State." This situation, according to the councilor, also emerged clearly in the Transport Committee: " The current owners have admitted that they lack the material resources to operate the airport , and despite this, ENAC is preparing to renew the concession."

Fenosu, which cost €22 million, thus remains untapped potential. "We're talking about a facility effectively held hostage," says Solinas, "with disproportionate and speculative financial demands." Hence the hard line: "If necessary, even by revoking the concession. A public asset must generate development and growth for the area."
