There were moments of apprehension this morning in Quartucciu , in Piazza Parrocchia, after a report was received by 112 regarding the presence of a presumed explosive device. Carabinieri from the local station and members of the Bomb Squad of the Cagliari Provincial Command responded to the scene.

Once on site, the military located a .45-caliber, model 35 mortar bomb , resting on a low wall along a pedestrian walkway. The area was immediately cordoned off and secured, allowing the bomb squad to conduct the necessary technical checks.

By order of the Judicial Authority and the Prefecture of Cagliari, the device was removed and placed in a safe condition, pending subsequent detonation operations in a suitable location, which will be carried out by the Bomb Squad of the Cagliari Provincial Command. The operation concluded without consequences to anyone and without any injuries. Further investigations are currently underway to reconstruct the circumstances of the discovery.
