A flurry of scams, both attempted and successful, have been carried out in the last few weeks to the detriment of numerous people from Cagliari. But now the carabinieri of the provincial command have identified and reported some of those responsible.

In particular, a 21-year-old from Modena was discovered who, via Whatsapp, lured his victims by presenting himself as his son, usually a university student in another city, and claimed to have lost his wallet, cell phone and laptop. So he asked for an urgent transfer to a friend's account to be able to buy everything back and meet his first needs.

Again: a thirty-nine year old from Siderno (Reggio Calabria) was unmasked who, through various platforms specialized in the sale of used items, defrauded would-be buyers by selling non-existent goods and then disappearing after payments.

The investigations then made it possible to report a thirty-six year old from Naples who was spamming fraudulent links on messaging services through which he managed to steal the credit card data of his victims attracted by purchases at rock-bottom prices.

Lastly, two accomplices were identified, a 23-year-old from Catania and a 56-year-old originally from Germany, who posing as insurers convinced the unfortunate people on duty to take out policies at very advantageous prices, providing fake certificates via counterfeit email addresses.
