Tests and simulations of military operations not only on the Sardinian territory and sea, but also in the skies.

In fact, the number of nations that will send their military pilots to train at the "International Flight Training School" (IFTS) that has just been inaugurated in Decimomannu is increasing.

The United Kingdom has now joined Qatar, Japan, Germany, Singapore, Austria, Canada and Saudi Arabia.

As communicated by the Ministry of Defence, during the AeroSpace Power Conference, the Air Force and the RAF - British Royal Air Force signed an agreement for the training of student pilots and instructor pilots at the base based on the island.

The arrival of the first RAF students - explains the note from the Defense - is expected next July.

"This agreement - it is underlined - substantially reiterates what was stated on 11 May in Decimomannu by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General Luca Goretti , on the occasion of the presentation of the new IFTS campus, namely that through the international structure of Decimomannu we demonstrate that we are leaders in the field of flight training ».

The new campus - recalls the Defense - is spread over a total area of 130,000 square meters (equal to 18 football fields) and can count on modern and technologically advanced infrastructures.

«The International Flight Training School (IFTS) is an Italian excellence of international value, the result of the collaboration between the Air Force and Leonardo as well as a reference point for the advanced training of military pilots of air forces from all over the world who fly on technologically advanced fighters, such as Eurofighter or F-35 aircraft for example".
