Italy all in dark red except Sardinia which remains in red as in last week's data.

This is what can be seen in the updated maps of the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Ecdc) on the situation of Covid infections in Europe. Compared to December 30, Sicily, Calabria, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Molise and Puglia go from red to dark red (i.e. the maximum risk of contagion according to the ECDC).

Meanwhile, the alarm from the president of the Medical Association Bruno Zuccarelli arrives from Naples, at the end of a dramatic confrontation with colleagues on duty in the main structures of Naples and the province: “The situation is critical, we need help now. Rome decides for a drastic measure ”, his words. "University doctors, general practitioners, 118 specialists and doctors working in every field are subjected to great stress - he continues - and risk burnout".

“We risk losing control of the situation, the spread of Omicron has brought hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices and the emergency network to their knees. Within a week or at most two, if no action is taken now, we risk seeing in Naples what we saw in Lombardy two years ago. Do not put us in a position to have to apply the black code ”, is the bitter conclusion, referring to the situation in which doctors will be forced to choose who to treat and who not.
