The controversy over the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, ignited by the alleged piloted hiring and by episodes of absenteeism , on which, among other things, the Public Prosecutor has opened a file (among the suspects there is also the Superintendent Nicola Colabianchi), flares up even at the top.

In fact, the councilor and vice president Giuseppe Farris, a lawyer and former leader of the opposition at the time of the first Junta Zedda in the Cagliari city council, resigned from the Foundation's steering committee (where he was appointed to represent the Region) .

Farris addressed the letter of resignation to the president of the Region, the mayor and the college of auditors.
Numerous reasons cited by Farris, addressed to the president of the opera body, in the figure of the mayor Paolo Truzzu . Textual: «First of all, the fact that you, over the last few months, have persisted in convening the Council in the morning time, effectively precluding those who, like myself, do not draw sustenance from public finance and carry out the task entirely pro bono, to the possibility of effective participation. This in defiance of the most elementary duties of institutional respect and despite the fact that on several occasions I have invited you, even with written communications, to fix the meetings in the afternoon or evening time slots, as per the consolidated tradition of the Council".

Farris recalls that he is «the only councilor appointed by the RAS, which with one of the highest annual allocations in the panorama of the Italian Lyric-Symphonic Foundations, guarantees the survival of the Theater and to whom, despite the indivisibility of the Steering Committee, I am called to reckon".

For the lawyer «this profile also reveals that in violation of the Statute and despite the numerous reminders, the Superintendent continues to omit the quarterly formation of the artistic report and the economic / financial reporting, since the last one dates back to September 2022, thus preventing the exercise of the Board's control activity. Council which, reduced to little more than a tinsel, has also been deprived of the function of elaborating guidelines and is convened exclusively for the adoption of the resolutions strictly foreseen by law or by statute".

Farris did not even like the transfer of the market to Piazza Nazzari: «On the point, and it is hardly necessary to recall it, your intention to transfer the civic market of San Benedetto to Piazza Nazzari was learned only through the mass media. A space inaugurated just in June 2020, redeveloped with the financing of the RAS from PAC funds and implemented through a program agreement between the Municipality, the Region, the Fondazione Teatro Lirico, the Metropolitan City and the Conservatory, which by hosting the summer festival "Classicalparco" guaranteed the operability of the Theater even under the pandemic emergency. Last but not least, the recent investigation opened by the Prosecutor of the Republic of Cagliari and of which we learned from the mass media also notes".
Caustic closure: "Without my guarantor culture, in hoping that the suspects can demonstrate their extraneousness, I observe that the objections raised, at least in part, concern the application of institutions of which, in many circumstances, I have complained about", he concludes Farris , «together with the representative of the Ministry of Culture, the opacity of the management. Having said so much, in reiterating my irrevocable resignation, I take this opportunity to wish the Foundation, authentic pride for the whole of Sardinia, best wishes for a fruitful and serene work».
