The tenor Francesco Demuro will sing the hymn of Mameli when the plaque in honor of Enrico Berlinguer is discovered. On Wednesday 25 May, exactly 100 years after the birth of the Sassari statesman, the University will remember him with a solemn ceremony in which the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella will also take part. The Head of State had already intervened at the ceremony to remember the president Francesco Cossiga and the tombstones of the two illustrious Sassari are side by side in the loggia of the University of Sassari.

This morning the presentation in the Aula Magna of the day which also sees the participation of the whole Berlinguer family and two ministers : that of the Maria Cristina Messa University and that of the Fabiana Dadone Youth Policies.

Rector Gavino Mariotti expressed his satisfaction: “The event is of national caliber. Enrico Berlinguer has given prestige to the city: he was not only a great politician, but also a great intellectual and it is right that a perennial memory should be preserved in these times where we tend to forget ”.

Also present were the honorable Tore Cherchi , regional president of the Enrico Berlinguer Foundation , and Omar Chessa , professor of the Department of Law of the University of Sassari (for whom the Department has proposed the award of the High Merit which will be delivered during the ceremony to the Berlinguer family) who will remember the figure of the Sassari statesman who at the University of Sassari gave 15 exams with excellent results before devoting himself completely to politics.

Enrico Berlinguer will be awarded a sort of post mortem honorary degree as a certificate of merit.
