Polaria and Enac will deal with the accident which occurred around 1.30pm today at Olbia's Costa Smeralda airport .

Technical checks are already underway while the removal operations of the ENAV (National Flight Assistance Agency) aircraft which ended up off the runway continue. It is a Piaggio P180 Avanti used for all ENAV activities in the Gallura airport . The turboprop is a powerful and safe aircraft, but something went wrong this morning.

We are talking about a damaged tire during landing or a breakdown . The wind factor is also taken into consideration. Fortunately, the three people on board escaped the accident unharmed.

The airport was closed for several hours and reopened shortly before 8pm.

Obviously the inconvenience for passengers is significant, with flights diverted to Alghero and Cagliari, cancellations and severe delays .
