On one side storms and tornadoes, on the other heat and fires driven by the mistral. For tomorrow, Tuesday 20 August, the fire danger in the Cagliari area is high, the Civil Protection alert is orange.
The conditions, it is explained, "are such that they can generate a fire with high intensity and speed of propagation which, if not addressed promptly, can reach such dimensions that it will be difficult to counter with ordinary forces, even if reinforced, and the assistance of the state fleet may be necessary".
Today there are 8 fires that broke out in the regional territory. A helicopter intervened in the countryside of Serdiana for a forest fire in the locality of “Seddas de flumini”. The personnel of the Forestry Corps Station of Dolianova coordinated the extinguishing operations. On site, in addition to the aircraft from Villasalto, the Gauf team from Cagliari, a team of Firefighters and a team of volunteers from Sant'Andrea Frius.
