Eel fishing prohibited in Muravera, at the mouth of the Rio Picocca.

Here the staff of the Naval Base of the Forestry Corps of Villasimius identified a series of "bertavelli" , forbidden tools, placed by poachers in such a way as to completely block the mouth.

After the discovery, the bertavellis were removed and the perpetrators are now being sought.

"Unfortunately - explains the Forestry Corps - the presence of the eel in inland waters is in great pain, so much so that a European directive requires the Member States to protect the species with more stringent legislation and adequate controls".

«With this in mind - adds the Corps - the Forestry has intensified controls: in fact, the capture systems placed in prohibited times and places are particularly harmful to the survival of the species, as they prevent its long migration towards the reproduction areas of the 'Atlantic Ocean".
