A 24-year-old from Assemini was arrested by the Carabinieri in Sestu during a late-night raid on a drug possession unit charged with drug trafficking.

The officers, on routine patrol, stopped the car driven by the young man for a traffic check. As soon as the window was rolled down, a suspicious "odor"—typical of freshly smoked marijuana—attracted the attention of the Carabinieri, who immediately deemed it appropriate to search both the man and the vehicle. The search resulted in the discovery of several doses of drugs in the young man's possession. The operation was coordinated by Lieutenant Riccardo Pirali, commander of the Sestu Station.

Considering that what they found could represent only a small portion of the illicit activity, the officers extended their search to the 24-year-old's home, finding and seizing a total of 28.7 grams of marijuana, already divided into doses, 5.5 grams of hashish, tools suitable for cutting and packaging, as well as a significant sum of cash—over €30,000—most of which was stored in vacuum-packed packages and rolls of banknotes. Following the formalities, the young man was placed under house arrest at his home pending a summary hearing.
