No signs of violence were found on the body of Florina Florea, the 67-year-old woman who died in Selargius after falling Tuesday evening from a third-floor window of a building on Via Logudoro, in the Is Corrias district of Selargius. However, for now, it is still too early to draw any conclusions or rule out homicide, given that the only certainty is that the woman died from the effects of a "precipitation," meaning a fall from a height. This is the only certain conclusion so far reached by the autopsy ordered by prosecutor Rita Cariello on the woman's body. The coroner, Roberto Demontis, worked on the woman's body for four hours on Wednesday, but for now, no hypothesis can be ruled out: neither deliberate action nor homicide.
Blood at home
Numerous traces of blood were found in the home, particularly in the kitchen and under the table. While these findings were initially considered suspicious, leading to the investigation of the murder of Mariano Pinna, the elderly man cared for by the deceased woman, over time, an explanation emerged, now being investigated by Carabinieri investigators. The 87-year-old, visually impaired man, after seeing his caregiver collapsed in the parking lot from his window, apparently went downstairs to help, staining his apartment with blood, and then contaminating it when he returned home.
The investigations
The Carabinieri of the Quartu Company's Operations Unit and the provincial investigative unit are maintaining strict secrecy. They immediately called RIS specialists to the apartment where the woman and the elderly man lived. The elderly man under investigation, who immediately appointed Carlo Monaldi as his defense attorney, reiterated from the very beginning that he hadn't even noticed his caregiver fall from a window of his apartment. Witnesses reportedly heard Florina Florea arguing heatedly in Romanian, a finding consistent with Mariano Pinna's account. Pinna immediately told the officers that before the incident, the 67-year-old woman had been talking to her son on the phone in a very excited tone.
The investigations
For now, therefore, the investigation is continuing with the hypothesis of voluntary manslaughter, which gives the Prosecutor's Office and the Carabinieri all the tools at their disposal to complete their investigations. No single scenario prevails over the others, so much so that for now the only suspect has been released. The case is still far from closed, but in the meantime, some of the 87-year-old's alleged statements have been corroborated.
