It was a tragedy within the tragedy that occurred three days ago in Quartu when a woman, who was being transported to the hospital in Cagliari, died - in circumstances to be ascertained - on board an ambulance involved in an accident .

The three children of the old woman ask for clarity and for this reason they have filed a lawsuit: the prosecutor has opened a file on the case and today the post for the autopsy has been entrusted.

What the relatives would like to understand is whether the 92-year-old would have died anyway, due to the Covid to which she tested positive, or if she would have been saved if the ambulance had arrived at the hospital.

RECONSTRUCTION - The victim was a guest in a retirement home in Quartu , the children visited her regularly and heard her on the phone almost every day. The last time, the week before her death, the mother had appeared in good condition. At the beginning of the week, the structure closed its visits due to the presence of a Covid outbreak, on Monday 18 July relatives were told that the old woman had tested negative for the rapid test.

On Wednesday 20, around 9 pm, the staff of the RSA contacted one of the children to communicate that the mother had suddenly worsened and the saturation was low: a second swab had given a positive result. For this reason 118 had been notified and an ambulance would take her to the hospital at the Santissima Trinità in Cagliari .

Reassured that his vital signs had improved significantly thanks to the administration of oxygen, the son went to the hospital to await the arrival of the rescue vehicle. After an hour, worried, he asked the emergency room staff for news and there he learned of the accident at the ambulance at the intersection of viale Europa and viale Marconi. At that point he went to the place but his mother was already dead when he arrived.

Upset, he asked the medical and paramedical staff for information, who would have assured him that all attempts had been made to save the patient, including the necessary resuscitation maneuvers, adding however that the clinical picture would now be compromised: according to the doctor on board, even if the journey went smoothly, the old woman would not have arrived alive to the emergency room.

These answers, however, did not convince the children of the victim, who therefore now want to know if there are any responsibilities and, through Studio3A-Valore SpA, have filed a complaint.

The autopsy ordered by the prosecutor could prove to be essential to give them answers.
