This morning, the engineers appointed by the investigating judge of the Nuoro court, Mauro Pusceddu, began their inspections of the ruined house that collapsed on 1 April 2024, costing the lives of Patrick and Ythan, two teenagers aged 15 and 14.

The investigation, which continues more than nine months after the tragedy, aims to establish the causes of the building's collapse and whether the boys' actions played a role in determining the disaster. The expert in charge, Aldo Mauri, was accompanied by the Nuoro firefighters and by consultants appointed by the victims' families and the suspects.

The investigation focuses on the state of abandonment of the building which, as it emerged, was known to be in precarious and dangerous conditions.

On April 1st of last year, Patrick, Ythan and a schoolmate decided to enter the farmhouse to explore and play. While they were playing, the first floor attic suddenly collapsed, trapping the two boys under the debris. The third classmate, miraculously unharmed, managed to raise the alarm, allowing rescuers to arrive. The heirs of the property, 13 in total, are being investigated for liability related to the building , but the cause of the collapse is still being investigated by the authorities.

The outcome of the investigations and the final report by expert Mauri will be crucial to clarify the details of this tragic event and establish any responsibilities.

The experts noted the lack of demarcation signs in the ruins of the tragedy: they will ask for the placement of a suitable demarcation to prevent new access. For now, the firefighters have replaced the red and white warning tape.
