Municipal coffers to the test also in Ilbono where the mayor has decided to run for cover. As a first decision, that of turning off 70 street lamps out of 500 in the country: the bills of January and February have undergone an increase of 50 percent compared to last year, something like 6 thousand euros more per month.
"We had to find a solution and make a choice pending the investment in LED lamps that we intend to make by the summer to cut costs - explains the mayor Giampietro Murru - We therefore decided to turn off the street lights of the ring road and alternate them , between off and on, in some sparsely inhabited streets, this in order not to jeopardize the safety of citizens. In the center everything will remain on - he assures - With this plan we await the next bill: from our calculations we should save 20 percent ".
The increases obviously affect all the municipalities: "We have a chat of about 300 mayors and all - says Murru - are trying to activate savings policies. Last year we spent 100 thousand euros in bills, given the costs of January and February. we should spend about 145 thousand at the end of the year. We cannot afford it. The government has allocated funds for the price increases, but after having done the calculations we realized that we would have to pay between 7 and 8 thousand euros, too little compared to the amount we would have to pay ".
"In the meantime - announces the mayor - we are verifying between municipalities the possibility of establishing savings energy communities with Pnrr funds: a sort of mutual aid in the energy sector that would allow us to significantly reduce costs".
