The desperate attempt by the officer driving the Passat to divert the trajectory was useless. Just as the resuscitation attempts for Fois, who remained stuck inside the cockpit, proved in vain. The driver of the truck was subjected to a series of tests and tested negative for alcohol: he is being investigated by the Nuoro Prosecutor's Office for road homicide.

Meanwhile, the message of condolence arrives from the head of the penitentiary administration department, Giovanni Russo: «We sympathize with the pain of the family, friends and colleagues of the missing policeman and we express closeness to the family of the director», we read in a note, « hoping to receive good news soon. Finally, I would like to thank the numerous representatives of institutions and law enforcement agencies who have sent sincere messages of solidarity and closeness to the penitentiary police force."
