Unsuccessful scam in San Teodoro. Today around 1pm someone - not yet identified - tried to deceive EM, a 53-year-old entrepreneur, asking him for 996 euros: he pretended to be his son, claiming to have lost his phone. And for this reason he called from another number: that money, the excuse was, was supposed to be used to buy a new device.

«He wrote to me via WhatsApp, implying that he was my son», says Teodorino, «he said he had lost his phone and asked me to borrow almost a thousand euros». The area code from which the messages arrived was Italian. The story seemed reliable, but not enough.

First communication with apologies. «Unfortunately I lost my cell phone, but I recovered my contacts. Now I'm at the phone shop to try to locate it." Then, however, the sending of the bank details and the absurd requests. «While I'm waiting, I won a promotional iPhone, can you help me buy it? All it takes is a top-up at the tobacconist, I'll give you your money back in three days."

So the man from Gallura understood that it was a hoax and managed to unmask the scammer, starting to make fun of him. «Ask me, you know that Daddy is always available!» . "You don't need to give them back to me, after all this month I managed to sell the villa I bought in Porto Cervo, the one we never used, remember?".

The conversation ended after EM sent a photo of a fake receipt, followed by a mocking sticker.

At that point, Teodorino tried to call him back to have some more fun but, obviously, no one answered.
