Even the former footballer Eric Cantona, the star of Manchester United, wanted to donate a substantial financial contribution to purchase the new vehicle for the Barracellare Company of Cuglieri.

It is the Ford pick-up with a 500-liter fire module that is added to the fleet of vehicles already in use at Barracelli, to carry out environmental surveillance of the municipal territory and first aid intervention in rural and urban areas.

It was inaugurated with the blessing of the parish priest Don Mario Piras, in the presence of the mayor Andrea Loche and the Carabinieri Marshal Giuseppe Cappai. A modern and functional off-road vehicle, purchased entirely with donations from private individuals: Cuglieri residents first and foremost, then with the offerings of many generous former Fiat workers, citizens of Olbia, Sassari, Alghero, San Nicolò d'Arcidano and Ovodda. There were also many benefactors from abroad: from England and France, then Cantona, deeply tied to Cuglieri and its territory, so much so that he decided to buy an old house in the countryside of the Montiferrino village to spend his holidays.

Captain Gavino Irde and his rangers are satisfied, they can finally count on an efficient vehicle to monitor the territory and guarantee services. The rural police born in 2018 carries out constant control in the countryside to prevent cattle rustling and other crimes, fight against illegal waste abandonment, up to carrying out civil protection tasks, also collaborating with other colleagues of Montiferru, for surveillance and order service in public events. Irde was recently confirmed in command until 2026, he coordinates the work of 22 barracelli including three women.
