Crimes and arrests down: "Cagliari among the safest cities in Italy, thanks also to prevention"

A decrease in crimes (-2.4 percent), complaints (-4.1%) filed and arrests (-4.9%) throughout the province of Cagliari .

These data, communicated during the 173rd anniversary of the State Police with the celebration held at the Public Gardens of Cagliari , in the period between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025, are counterbalanced by those on preventive activities: public order services, identifications, checkpoints, oral warnings, expulsion orders, warnings and special surveillance have grown significantly. And there has been a strong increase in drug seizures.
During the ceremony, with Police Commissioner Rosanna Lavezzaro hosting all the civil, military and religious authorities present, the police officers of the Cagliari police headquarters who distinguished themselves in operations, activities and services of great importance were awarded .

"I chose this splendid place in the center of the city for the celebrations," said the commissioner. "And I wanted to show in a video who we are and what we do."

Among the main tasks are the management of public order and service "to guarantee the right to demonstrate to all". Important are the preventive activities that have allowed the decrease in crime and that "have allowed Cagliari to be among the safest cities in Italy". And then the services carried out in the historic center: "Even if we arrested all the perpetrators of crimes, even minors, we would still be faced with a society with problems", added Police Chief Lavezzaro.
Among the activities carried out, there are also administrative ones such as the issuing of passports and residence permits, which are increasing significantly.
