After the new coronavirus cases in Sardinia recorded new increases for a month, now the contagion curve seems to flatten. To say this are the data of the Gimbe Foundation according to which between 26 January and 1 February there was a slightly improved performance for currently positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants (1,424 compared to 1,425 in the last survey) but with a more marked decrease in new infections (-22.4%) compared to the previous week.

The most critical area continues to be the central area of the island, with Nuorese having 1,067 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Oristano there is a halving (from over one thousand to 579 per 100 thousand inhabitants). Cagliari followed with 379, Sassari with 341 and the province of South Sardinia with 328.

The beds occupied by Covid patients in the medical area (23.8%) and in intensive care (15.7%) are still above the saturation threshold and Sardinia will remain in the yellow zone for the next week.

VACCINES - After the realignment of the data communicated in recent days, the Gimbe Foundation also certifies that the Sardinian population that has completed the vaccination cycle is 81.8% (almost two percentage points above the Italian average which stops at 80 , 9%). 1,309,023 citizens have received two doses to which to add a further 3.6% (Italy average 3.9%) with the first dose only. And we now travel on an average of almost 15 thousand daily doses, of which over a thousand are first doses and about 12 thousand are boosters.

The third dose vaccination coverage rate reached 78.2% (Italian average 79.6%).

Finally, as regards pediatric doses, the percentage of children between 5 and 11 who have completed the vaccination cycle is equal to 15.3% (Italy average 14.5%) to which an additional 20.6% must be added ( Italian average 18.2%) with first dose only: 13,713 and 31,015 respectively out of an audience of 83,872.
