Construction work on the Tyrrhenian Link has caused traffic and chaos on the Quartu coastal road.

It was easy to predict that the worst would come over the weekend, and in fact today on Via Leonardo Da Vinci, on the Quartu section of the coastal road to Villasimius from Marina Recidence to Terra Mala, traffic was in chaos.

Everyone queued behind the construction site traffic lights and fences for Terna's work on the Tyrrhenian Link, which resumed promptly on September 1st, as per the Metropolitan City's ordinance.

There were no interruptions, not even over the weekend when countless vacationers flocked to the beaches . The workers weren't there, but barriers, traffic lights, and one-way traffic with queues lasting kilometers remained in place even over the weekend.

Private security officers and traffic controllers were on the scene, but it was of little use. With the roadway narrowed, traffic jams are inevitable, and things are sure to get even worse tomorrow, the first Sunday in September with red zones on the roads, especially as many people return from vacation.

The one-way system, regulated by traffic lights, traffic controllers, and signs, will be in effect until June 30, 2027. Another ordinance regulates work on sections of Via dell'Autonomia regionale sarda, Via S'Ecca S'Arrideli, and Via Lungomare Simbirizzi: work on these roads continued throughout July, with interruptions only at weekends.

On Via Lungolago Simbirri, the restrictions will affect the stretch between km 8 and km 12, on Via Dell'Autonomia Regionale Sarda from km 1.900 to km 5.300, and on Via S'Ecca S'Arrideli from km 0 to km 3.200. Other restrictions also apply to the Maracalagonis area.
