The money has been allocated since 2014: 3.75 million euros.

The Region had transferred the sum to the consortium of reclamation of the north of Sardinia for the raising of the bank of the river Coghinas near the mouth. A stretch with a very high risk of flooding, which in fact annually creates serious damage to agriculture and the population.

The mayor of Santa Maria Coghinas Pietro Carbini wrote a controversial letter of protest to the president of the Region Cristian Solinas , to the regional authorities in charge, to the reclamation consortium of northern Sardinia and to civil protection. Object: raising of the left bank of the Coghinas river and clarification on the failure to start the works.

"The municipality of Santa Maria Coghinas and the whole territory have always been at risk of flooding - the mayor's text begins -. This risk has often turned into a flood event with disastrous consequences. funded and launched the study for the construction of an intervention to raise the embankment on the left bank, to date, after more than 8 years, the works have not yet started. and numerous reminders for bureaucratic acceleration. To date, nothing is known about the start of the embankment raising works, financed by the Region with 3.75 million euros. No reason can justify the delay of more than 8 years . As mayor and head of public safety I feel extremely worried. I am no longer willing - he concludes - to accept helplessly the inoperability of the employees to the works, which continue in an attitude of disarming deathly silence ".

The financial resources in question for 6 years have been conveyed by the Region to the reclamation consortium of northern Sardinia.

Some, such as the environmental assessment impact, we obtained from the competent regional departments. we are waiting.
