«Our land Sardinia has ended its life path, defunct in 2050 due to the use of fossil fuels».

So say the posters of the "funereal" social campaign created by the boys and girls of Friday For Future Casteddu and Cagliari. An initiative to promote the new climate strike organized throughout Italy by Fridays For Future on 6 October, under the cry of "Climate resistance".

The protest in the Sardinian capital, which will take place from 4pm from the building of the regional council to that of the regional council, was anticipated by funeral messages, complete with a cross drawn inside the flag of the Four Moors, who mourn «Sardinia and its 60 thousand people died in Europe in 2002 due to the heat."

«Do not bring flowers or condolences, but a desire for rebellion - the FFF Cagliari activists write on Instagram - A Sardinia besieged by methane gas, with the highest value of climate-altering emissions per capita in the whole State, with the phaseout of the two power plants coal that no politician believes is achievable by 2025 without huge LNG imports. An impoverished, reactionary Sardinia with serious democratic shortcomings finds itself at a new chapter in climate history: fires, heat waves, droughts, uprooted trees and greenhouses destroyed by the wind, hailstones the size of tennis balls and floods. It is the chapter of devastation, which makes collective action indispensable."

«The main cause of the increase in temperatures, and consequently of extreme climate phenomena, are fossil fuels, in which Italy, and subsequently the Sardinian region, continues to invest extensively. These are in fact denialist governments - they conclude - The protest against fossil investments is an act of resistance. We will not stand by and watch as humanity is condemned to die."
