Grillo trial, Bongiorno speaks out: "Acquitting the defendants would smear the victim; she's dead inside."

The defendants are unreliable on the central issues of the trial, while the victim has always provided the same version of the facts: this, according to the Tempio prosecutor, Gregorio Capasso, is the heart of the Grillo case .

The prosecutor stated in his reply that Ciro Grillo, Francesco Corsiglia, Edoardo Capitta, and Vittorio Lauria gradually adapted their versions to the progress of the investigation . According to the prosecutor, therefore, the four young men did not tell the truth about what happened in Porto Cervo on the night between July 16 and 17, 2019 .

The Tempio prosecutor also stated that one of the defense's key witnesses is unreliable. She is the woman who allegedly saw the alleged rape victim smoking on the patio of the Grillo villa. The defense's entire reconstruction of events, according to Capasso, is implausible .

When Capasso concluded his response, requesting a nine-year sentence for the defendants , it was Giulia Bongiorno's turn, the civil party's lawyer . Bongiorno said that during the trial, an X-ray, a CT scan with contrast, was performed on her client's waist. And this investigation of the victim led to nothing. "Questions were also asked about the teachers at the elementary schools my client attended." Bongiorno also spoke of the victim's reaction after the alleged gang rape: "All raped women die inside, and to survive, they pretend to be the same as before." My client, she added, couldn't scream "because during a sexual assault, one is annihilated, annihilated." Then, addressing the judges in Tempio, she said: "Here you didn't agree with me; it wasn't possible for the victim to remain in the courtroom during her friend's testimony. But this has happened in other trials." The lawyer concluded her argument by emphasizing that "my client is not a nymphomaniac : acquitting the defendants would be tantamount to affirming this. She is not a disturbed person, she is not the sorceress Circe. She is a girl who was massacred. She was an easy prophet when, explaining why she hadn't reported the crime the first time, she declared that she would be considered a huge whore." Bongiorno called the defense's thesis and reconstruction "offensive."

The hearing began after noon. Ciro Grillo, Edoardo Capitta, Vittorio Lauria, and Francesco Corsiglia were not present in the courtroom.

The alleged victim of the gang rape may also be present at the reading of the sentence scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, September 3. Lawyer Giulia Bongiorno confirmed this as she entered the Tempio Pausania courthouse. "She would like to come, but I'm thinking for a moment," she said .
