A family destroyed by grief and an entire city in shock due to the death of Daniele Ulver, the 15-month-old child overwhelmed and killed by a scooter in Cagliari , while he was in the wheelchair, pushed by his mother who was crossing near the pedestrian crossing in via Cadello.

After the terrible impact, the driver of the scooter, a 36-year-old, ran away, only to later turn himself in. For the little one, however, the aid was useless.

"He took it away from me, I couldn't do anything," said his mother, Ilaria Ennas, in tears.

"In the afternoon we were together like so many other times, happy. Now he's gone. He was a special child," says his uncle, distraught and incredulous.

Appalled by what happened even among the rescuers. “In twenty years of work such a thing had never happened to me,” confides a municipal agent.
