Child in danger of life: emergency transport from Alghero with the Air Force

A two-month-old baby girl, in imminent danger of life, was urgently transported from Alghero to Ciampino aboard an F50 aircraft of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force. The little patient needed to be urgently transferred from the University Hospital of Sassari to the "Bambino Gesù" Pediatric Hospital in Rome.
The request for intervention arrived in the afternoon from the Prefecture of Sassari to the Situation Room of the Air Force of the Air Squad Command of Milan, which immediately activated the 31st Wing of Ciampino, one of the Departments that carries out the operational readiness service for this type of mission.
The aircraft took off from Ciampino and landed in Alghero where it took on board the little girl with her mother and a medical team who assisted the little girl during the journey .
Shortly after 6:00 p.m. the aircraft returned to Ciampino where the little girl, aboard an ambulance, was transferred to the "Bambino Gesù" Pediatric Hospital in Rome for hospitalization.
The Air Force Flight Departments are available to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with vehicles and crews capable of operating even in complex weather conditions: they ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, but also of organs, medical teams or ambulances.
