Roadside checks and the fight against drug dealing and consumption. In addition, checks on compliance with judicial orders and checks at public events. This is the outcome of two coordinated extraordinary operations carried out by the Carabinieri of the Cagliari Provincial Command starting yesterday evening , with operations in Carbonia and surrounding municipalities and a large-scale operation in Quartu.
In Carbonia , officers conducted targeted traffic checks and investigated crimes against individuals. Among the incidents recorded was one involving a young man who allegedly failed to stop at a police stop, resulting in a chase through the city center . The driver was subsequently stopped and reported for fleeing the scene after being ordered to stop, endangering public safety, and for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was issued the appropriate penalties, including immediate suspension of his license.
During the checks, another man was caught driving his car despite having a revoked license . The vehicle was administratively seized.
Another incident involved a young man who, according to the Carabinieri's reconstruction, allegedly harassed his ex-partner despite the measures taken against him by the judicial authorities. The young man's presence was detected following the alarm generated by the so-called electronic bracelet .
The operation in the Quartu area was more complex, with the military carrying out checks in urban centers, focusing on drug possession, road safety, and compliance with weapons regulations.
During the searches, five people were found in possession of hashish, totaling more than 12 grams. All were reported to the Cagliari Prefecture as drug users, according to the procedure established by law.
On the road safety front, a man was found in possession of a 20-centimeter fixed-blade knife . He was also driving with a revoked license. Another driver was caught behind the wheel without ever having obtained a license, a repeat offender within two years, prompting police intervention for violating the rules on driving without a license.
Three additional drivers were fined for driving under the influence of alcohol. The checks therefore focused on various potentially dangerous behaviors for road users, with particular attention to driving after drinking.
