All proceeds from the 2nd Rinaldo Orrù Memorial, organized in Isili a few weeks ago by the Karibu Africa Sardinian Volunteer Group, will go entirely to support the "Tumaini" project.

The project's name means "to hope" in Italian, and its goal is to offer hope through free healthcare for children with cancer who attend the Cottolengo mission in Chaaria, Kenya. Dr. Rinaldo Orrù, who passed away a few years ago, and his wife, Antonella Cuccu, offered their expertise at the African hospital for years.

For the second time, the Volunteer Group, along with Antonella, have drawn attention to this initiative, and the approximately 40 participants have responded generously. The donation has already arrived, complete with a thank-you letter from Brother Giancarlo, the mission leader.

"This year too," he wrote, "thanks to the generosity of the many memorial participants, we will be able to guarantee healthcare for children with cancer."

In Kenya, healthcare is not free, and even those who can afford to pay monthly contributions for public health insurance are not guaranteed that they will be sufficient to cover their medical expenses. Therefore, every euro for these children is invaluable.
