Following the cat massacre in Padru, residents of the Gallura town are organizing a peaceful demonstration to "give a voice to the animals who were killed, even by silence."

The event, supported by the municipal administration, "was created with the aim of demonstrating the love and care that the Padru community has for animals, promoting values of respect, responsibility, and solidarity," say Mayor Antonello Idini and Environment Councilor Stefania Satta, who already spoke out following the serious incidents involving cat poisoning that occurred a few weeks ago in the town.

"A criminal act of pure malice and incivility, perpetrated by individuals, which is currently being investigated," they declared. The Olbia branch of Lida, which has been taking in and caring for the dying felines, is also participating in the demonstration, which begins today at 3:00 PM.

Yesterday, Carabinieri officers from the Padru station arrested and took to Bancali prison a man who, according to the preliminary investigations judge of the Sassari court, is allegedly responsible for stalking and killing animals. The restraining order stems from an investigation launched after a complaint was filed by a woman, a neighbor of the recipient of the order, who allegedly suffered harassment and death threats. The accusation is aggravated by the killing of at least three cats owned by the woman, who died as a result of the administration of poisonous substances.
