The situation in the Sarrabus fields was also dramatic: the damage reported in the vineyards was very serious, where the torrid heat of the last week burned the leaves and the grapes. Mayor Eugenio Murgioni and other municipal administrators met several farmers.

The City Council immediately met proclaiming the state of natural disaster. "After confirmation of the damages, proven by photographic and video surveys in our possession - reads a statement from the Municipality -, the Giunta declared a state of natural disaster throughout the municipal area due to the adverse meteorological events of the period between 19 and 21 July, essentially consisting of extraordinarily high temperatures". The harvest appears to have already been compromised in part, and the same problem is also being felt in other areas of the island.

The farms concerned will be able to present a request for damage reporting to the Laore Agency, which has activated a new online reporting service. The reports must be sent no later than 10 days from the conclusion of the calamitous event, therefore in the specific case by 07.31.2023.
