The bell of the town hall of Castelsardo dates back to 1604. The news was given by the epigraphist and scholar Giuseppe Piras, during the congress that was hosted in the Castle.

The date of 1111, which aroused so much perplexity, especially after the latest archaeological research had set the date of foundation of the city at the second half of the XIII century, has therefore been debunked.

The meeting was promoted by the municipal administration, the Cultural Heritage Office of the Diocese of Tempio-Ampurias and the Confraternity of the Oratory of Santa Croce di Castelsardo, where not only the bell, but also Father Giuseppe was discussed in detail Monserrato, known to the Castellanesi as "lu Biaddu Ghjuseppu", of the inscription placed under the main altar of the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, of the heraldic coat of arms inserted in via Marconi, whose motto recalls the verses of the poet Petrarca, as well as of a 'unpublished epigraph in the stairway of via Mazzini.

Also surprising are the images, found by the scholar in the Louvre archives and created by the French draftsman and topographer Jean Daubigny, which revealed hitherto unknown details on the urban layout and architecture of Castellana at the end of the eighteenth century.
