When a moment of social commitment and civic decorum turns into an extraordinary event that only nature can give. It happens in Castelsardo, on the beach of La Madonnina, in the seaside resort of Lu Bagnu, on the occasion of the national Plastic Free date, Saturday 26 April, Earth Day, one of the many dedicated to cleaning the beaches.
In the sand, a small miracle: a Caretta caretta sea turtle has chosen to lay its eggs in the beach already known for being awarded the Blue Flag, a symbol of environmental excellence and water quality. "In 14 years of collective commitment, we have experienced unforgettable moments, such as the liberation of the Caretta caretta turtle, environmental awareness meetings, the appearances of the Little Mermaids for the little ones, and many special interventions by our tireless custodians of the sea", enthusiastically tell the amateur sports group Bulli Surf of Castelsardo.
"But above all, what really made the difference were the daily actions: the walks along the shore, the hands in the sand, the shared smiles, and that silent but powerful love for our city. The cetaceans of the Canyon, the sea turtles and the rich biodiversity that populates our waters are proof that beauty responds when it is respected". The event was reported by Plastic Free with the Bulli Surf of Castelsardo, and organized by the Crama center of the Asinara National Park who took care of securing the area. The initiative took place with the patronage of the Department of the Environment led by Christian Speziga.
