The Supreme Court declared the appeals inadmissible, thus confirming the life sentences for Christian Fodde and 30 years in prison for Riccardo Carta, two of the five defendants of the pack who killed the 18-year-old from Macomer Manuel Careddu in September 2018, luring him into a trap on the shores of Lake Omodeo and then raging on him with a shovel and an ice ax. For the other three who ended up in trial, including two minors at the time of the facts, the sentences had already become final after the appeal for the waiver of their lawyers to the further level of judgment in the Cassation.

After the murder, the 18-year-old was buried in a piece of land and found only a month later.

According to what has been reconstructed by the investigations, the crime was committed to close a dispute arising from issues related to a debt of a few hundred euros of unpaid drugs, money that Manuel Careddu had asked to collect from Fodde's girlfriend, then a minor.

A bug, placed for a previous investigation into the car used by the pack to bring the eighteen-year-old to the place of execution, revealed to the investigators all the phases of the murder.

Those wiretapping nailed the four friends from Ghilarza (Oristano) and the girl from Abbasanta (Oristano).

Not yet 18 at the time of the crime, Cosmin Nita and Giada Campus were sentenced to 16 years of seeking by the Juvenile Court of Cagliari, a sentence also confirmed by the Court of Appeal.
