After a long time and endless protests, the cobblestone pavement that had been torn away in Piazza Ciusa, a key traffic area in Carbonia, has been repaired .
The granite blocks had shifted due to subsidence. For over a year, cars and motorcycles had been forced to take dangerous detours between the portico parking lot and the civic market .
Similar collapses occurred in Piazza Rinascita and, for over ten years, between Via Gramsci and Via Slovenia, where the stones have been completely dismantled.
A municipal contractor, supported by the Maintenance Department led by Giuseppe Casti, has begun repairs that will affect areas similar to Piazza Ciusa.
