A stalker has been stalking three female lawyers in Alghero since last July, making late-night and early-morning phone calls, claiming to be their client without actually identifying himself. The lawyers don't recognize him, but he knows their names. "He slurs his words and speaks very slowly," reports one of them, the recipient of a serious threat. In the threat, she was told that another person, whom the harasser claims the lawyer knows but hasn't named, had asked him to harm her. This alleged commissioned work was aimed at potentially causing violence, a very serious intent that led the lawyer to file a complaint with the Carabinieri in Alghero. She discovered that two other female colleagues have been victims of the same abuse for about three months. The call comes from the same number, registered to an Italian man living off the island and whose social media, work, and family profiles appear far removed from the behavior he's been engaging in. "Maybe his phone was hacked," she suspects.

In any case , the mystery of coincidences remains: three lawyers, all from Alghero. It's hard to believe it's a coincidence, but rather the possibility that someone checked the national register of lawyers for contact information for the lawyers in the Catalan city.

The reason for this is currently unknown, but there are fears that the contact details of other female lawyers may have ended up in the harasser's address book.
