Tragedy struck this evening on Via Scano in Cagliari. An 80-year-old man died following a sudden illness while driving his car .

The vehicle, an SUV coming from Largo Gennari, went off the road . The vehicle's journey ended with a violent impact against one of the trees located along the central reservation of the street, in front of the Church of Cristo Re.

Rescue efforts began immediately. Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene and found the driver already unconscious inside the vehicle. They quickly began resuscitation. Despite the medical team's prolonged and desperate efforts, there was nothing they could do for the elderly man, and he was only pronounced dead .

The Carabinieri and the municipal police also intervened at the scene of the accident, both carrying out the usual surveys to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the events and managing traffic in the area.
