Carbonia, the stele in memory of the first dead miners regains dignity: maxi cleaning operation

During last year's ceremony the site was surrounded by dense vegetation: thanks instead to the workers at the service of the Great Mine of Serbariu and the Municipality, the site that houses the granite stele in memory of the first five miners who lost life in the newly born Carbonia mine.

It was the tragic Valentine's Day of 1938: overwhelmed at a depth of 135 meters by a sudden rise in water, Domenico Marinelli, Nicola Merlino, Amadio Merlino, Nicola Santarelli, Domenico Silvestri lost their lives.
